Article Correction, Retraction, and Removal Policy

The International Journal of Yoga, Physical Education and Sports (IJYPES), published by AASTEMER (https://aastemer.org/), is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of scholarly integrity and accuracy in its publications. This policy outlines the procedures for correcting errors, retracting articles, or removing content to ensure transparency, accountability, and trust in the scholarly record. It applies to all content published in IJYPES, including research articles, reviews, short communications, and conference papers.

Corrections

Corrections are issued to address errors in published articles that do not fundamentally undermine the research’s validity but require amendment to maintain accuracy.

  • Types of Corrections:
    • Errata: For minor errors, such as typographical mistakes, formatting issues, or incorrect author details (e.g., names, affiliations) that do not affect the scientific content or conclusions.
    • Corrigenda: For significant errors introduced by authors or the publisher that may affect the interpretation of the research but do not invalidate the findings (e.g., errors in data presentation, methodology, or figures).
  • Process:
    • Authors, readers, or editors may report errors via the submission portal at https://ijypes.aastemer.org/ or by emailing editor@ijypes.aastemer.org.
    • The editorial team will review the reported error in consultation with the author(s) and, if necessary, independent experts.
    • Approved corrections will be published as a separate notice linked to the original article, clearly describing the error and the correction made.
    • The original article will be updated with a note indicating the correction and the date of revision.
  • Transparency: Corrections are published promptly and made freely accessible to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

Retractions

Retractions are issued when significant issues in an article compromise its validity, reliability, or integrity, rendering the findings or conclusions untrustworthy.

  • Grounds for Retraction:
    • Evidence of scientific misconduct, such as data fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism, as per IJYPES’s Plagiarism Policy.
    • Significant errors or inaccuracies that invalidate the article’s findings or conclusions.
    • Redundant publication (e.g., duplicate publication without disclosure).
    • Undisclosed conflicts of interest that materially affect the research.
    • Other ethical violations, including misuse of generative AI tools, as outlined in IJYPES’s Generative AI Policy.
  • Process:
    • Concerns may be raised by authors, readers, or editors via the submission portal or at editor@ijypes.aastemer.org.
    • The editorial board will conduct a thorough investigation, involving the author(s) and, if necessary, independent experts or the authors’ institution(s).
    • If retraction is warranted, a retraction notice will be published, clearly stating the reasons and linked to the original article.
    • The retracted article will remain accessible online but will be marked as “Retracted” to prevent further use or citation without context.
    • Retraction notices are published promptly and made freely accessible.
  • Author Involvement: Authors are encouraged to initiate retractions if they identify issues in their work. However, the editorial team may retract an article unilaterally if authors are unresponsive or uncooperative.

Article Removal

Article removal is a rare action taken only in exceptional circumstances where keeping an article publicly accessible could cause harm or violate legal or ethical standards.

  • Grounds for Removal:
    • Legal issues, such as copyright infringement or defamation, that cannot be resolved through correction or retraction.
    • Serious ethical violations posing risks to public safety or privacy (e.g., inclusion of sensitive personal data without consent).
    • Court orders or legal mandates requiring removal.
  • Process:
    • Removal requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the editorial board, in consultation with legal advisors if necessary.
    • If removal is approved, the article will be removed from the journal’s online platform, and a notice explaining the reason for removal will be published in its place.
    • Metadata (e.g., title, authors, DOI) may remain accessible to preserve the scholarly record, accompanied by the removal notice.
  • Transparency: Removal notices will clearly state the reason for removal, unless prohibited by legal constraints, and will be freely accessible.

General Principles

  • Timeliness: IJYPES is committed to addressing concerns promptly to minimize misinformation. Corrections, retractions, or removals are processed as quickly as possible.
  • Fairness: Decisions are made impartially, following a thorough and transparent investigation, as outlined in IJYPES’s Publishing Ethics Policy.
  • Preservation of the Scholarly Record: Whenever possible, IJYPES prioritizes maintaining access to the original article (with appropriate notices) over complete removal to ensure transparency.
  • Appeals: Authors may appeal correction, retraction, or removal decisions as outlined in IJYPES’s Editorial Decision Appeals Policy. Appeals must be submitted within 30 days via the submission portal or to editor@ijypes.aastemer.org.
  • Compliance with Standards: This policy adheres to guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and other recognized standards for scholarly publishing.
