Publishing Ethics

The International Journal of Yoga, Physical Education and Sports (IJYPES), published by AASTEMER (https://aastemer.org/), is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct in scholarly publishing. Our publishing ethics policy ensures integrity, transparency, and fairness in all aspects of the publication process, fostering trust among authors, reviewers, editors, and readers. This policy aligns with guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies to all submissions to IJYPES.

Duties of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must submit original work that has not been published elsewhere or is under consideration by another publication. All sources must be properly cited, and any use of others’ work must be clearly acknowledged. Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited, as outlined in IJYPES’s Plagiarism Policy.
  • Authorship and Acknowledgment: All listed authors must have made significant contributions to the research and agree to the submission. Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.
  • Data Integrity: Authors are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of data, ensuring results are not fabricated or falsified. Supporting data should be available upon request.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation.
  • Generative AI Use: Authors must disclose and verify the use of generative AI tools, as per IJYPES’s Generative AI Policy, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Corrections and Retractions: Authors must promptly inform the editorial office of any errors or ethical concerns in their published work and cooperate with corrections or retractions, as outlined in IJYPES’s Article Correction, Retraction, and Removal Policy.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Objectivity: Reviewers must provide impartial, constructive, and evidence-based feedback, evaluating manuscripts based on scientific merit and relevance to IJYPES’s scope.
  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential and not share or use their content without permission. Manuscript content must not be entered into generative AI tools, as per the Generative AI Policy.
  • Timeliness: Reviewers should complete reviews promptly and inform the editorial office of any conflicts of interest or inability to review.
  • Disclosure: Any use of assistive tools (e.g., for language polishing) must be disclosed to the editorial office, ensuring transparency.

Duties of Editors

  • Fairness: Editors must evaluate manuscripts based on academic merit, without bias related to authors’ identity, affiliation, or background.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and reviewer identities during the double-blind peer-review process.
  • Decision-Making: Editors are responsible for final publication decisions, ensuring they are informed by peer reviews and align with IJYPES’s policies.
  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have conflicts of interest and disclose any use of assistive tools, as per the Generative AI Policy.
  • Ethical Oversight: Editors must investigate allegations of misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data falsification) and take appropriate action, as outlined in relevant IJYPES policies.

Duties of the Publisher

  • Access and Preservation: The publisher maintains open-access availability and permanent archiving of published content, as outlined in IJYPES’s Preservation Policy.
  • Policy Enforcement: The publisher supports the editorial board in addressing ethical violations and implementing corrections, retractions, or removals when necessary.
  • Transparency: The publisher ensures that all IJYPES policies are publicly available and regularly updated to reflect best practices.

Handling Ethical Violations

  • Investigation: Allegations of ethical misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, authorship disputes, or data fabrication) are investigated promptly by the editorial board, in consultation with authors, reviewers, or external experts as needed.
  • Consequences: Violations may result in rejection, retraction, or other actions, as outlined in IJYPES’s Article Correction, Retraction, and Removal Policy and Plagiarism Policy. Serious cases may be reported to authors’ institutions or funding agencies.
  • Appeals: Authors may appeal editorial decisions related to ethical concerns, as detailed in IJYPES’s Editorial Decision Appeals Policy.
